Ok Ok I was a little late on this one but hey I can’t see everything…or can I? Nah. Anyway, Join Technology Limited has finally done it! (Well OK they did it a month a go but can we just drop that already?) They have came out with a laptop/nettop for under $100. This is more then OneLaptop Per Child has been able to do, even though they said they would. Reading over the Jl7100 specs might make you think more of a smartphone instead of a laptop, $99 retail is difficult to argue with.
The only reason I did finally find out about this was because of a post over at Guardian.co.uk where a guy (very nice guy) is a private donor to a small charity that is bringing electricity to a small village and he was asking if there was an affordable laptop for their situation. I did a little research and this is what I foun. I will post a comment over at the Guardian.co.uk and let him know of this post and the press release I have included. Maybe this will help them out. I sure hope so, cause the first thing a villager that has lived all his life without electricity thinks about is ,”I wonder what the hottest thing on YOUTube is right now?”.
