How can i completely protect myself from malware when using Limewire? Is it possible to get any viruses even if i carefully select the mp3s? Is it possible to get a virus even if you dont download any files?

I have been using P2P programs for over 5 years now, and I highly suggest not using limewire. I can also say that WinMX is still by far the best one out of all of them. The original owners gave up on WinMX, and the community came together and got it back up. And now it has more features than before.
Unlike Limewire, WinMX protects you from the RIAA/MPAA by blocking them from even getting on the network, it removes all fake files from your search results so you never get fake files, and it's fast and easy to use and NO SPYWARE!

I have NEVER gotten a virus from using Torrentz but this Limewire program is generally used by the lower level Geeks…which usually means Geeks who don't care about their fellow Geeks and thus like to be jerks and spread viruses all over the place, So I would say no to Limewire stick to Utorrent.,
you can scan every song with an anti virus program
you need to scan all files before opening them, with an anti virus prog, and an anti malware prog, like malwarebytes.
By staying away from the fake files you see when you do a search.
The very small files you see are much too small to be a song.
Those small files are very likely the fake (dummy) files.
Stay away from those files.
Start downloading music files larger than 2500/3000kb
Have your anti virus up to date, just in case a virus does slip through. It will then take care of it.

why would you use limewire…it sucks, most of the files have been over compressed so they are poor quality…and there is NO WAY to safely use it…like everyone else said use torrents
