   If you have the 4GB Flash drive version with SD card expansion slot, remember to SAVE all files and re-format the card too.

   4) I SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN THIS FIRST!

   MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST FIRMWARE FOR YOUR EXACT MODEL ON YOUR UNIT FROM THE ARCHOS WEBSITE.

   2) Go to: MENU > SETTINGS > SYSTEM > REPAIR & FORMATTING TOOLS.

   Start with the first option and return and try all subsequent options IF the preceeding one does not fix the reseting problem.

   Sadly, you may have just got a inferior unit as Archos quality control is substandard for the amount they cost.
   Ask somebody in Electroncs retail how often they are returned for faults and you will know why there are so MANY refurbished products on eBay.

   I have owned over 10 different Archos models over the years.

   The Generation 4 (404, 504, 604) were the most reliable in my experience.

   The later generations have more problems because of their (lousy) Wi-Fi ability.

   I have seldom had ANY reset themselves as you described whlst playing AUDIO files though certain VIDEOs have caused the reset problem you mentioned.

   1) Firstly, BACK-UP the entire 605 contents on your PC in Hard Disk mode.

   Hey, I’m having trouble with my archos, it will randomly start over sometimes after a song is done and when it comes back it seems like it erased the past 5 minutes of what i’ve done on it. If anybody knows how to fix this, I would appreciate you telling me, cuz the company doesn’t like to respond on time.

    It looks like a nice product , untill you own one , works fine for about 7 to 8 months and then you better be willing to get a new one , I own 2 so far and i am piss cause both are broken , 1 of then for the second time after a repair.

    It requires a really expensive ($60) portable DVR to be able to do that, and doesn’t supply power to the spycam

    wow very hard, download copy…past…unplug archos 605….hit update…says 1 update found….install…done…just kidding it took me a little bit a minuet of time 2 figure it out, still u had 2 call support

    yeah i have one its very hard to learn how to install your firmware i did it i had to call archos to figure it out but i know everything about it now.
