This is the part I of the RTX Skype Dualphone 3088 review. It covers the items in the retailer box and the general use of each of them. It also shows the amazingly easy first time installation of this phone. Come to my blog: amperordirect.wordpress.com to check out the written version.

Great review Howard, I was just wondering can you receive voicemail on this phone.
You make free skype to skype calls with this instrument. Make sure you set it up properly and not connect through PSTN by mistake.
Skype to Skype is ALWAYS free, regardless of instrument / pc used.
Initially you will need to set up your device while your PC is online and you are logged in to your skype account. Yes your assumption is right. For cable modem connect the device to router and the router to modem. If you have DSL modem which almost always have router built in, some also have a 4 port switch built in. In this case connect the device to an ethernet switch and then to the dsl modem. If your modem includes a switch connect directly to it.
Are skype tp skype calls free on this phone?
Are skype to skype phone calls free when using this phone?
can one make fee skype to skype calls using this phone or all cals are at a cost even the skype to skype calls?

Sorry if I’m asking again, but just trying to make the right choice. If I just connect the box to my router and than my router to my modem would that work?
DO I have to connect a phone line to it?
Will this work in India?

What country were you in when you recieved the dualphone?
That basically leaves Philips VOIP8411B as a good alternative.. I’m trying to get my hands on one at the moment but Amazon are out of stock..
Nice job! Would have liked to have seen the actualy connections on the device box (did he connect it to his router or an airport?), and also to see the SKYPE screen on the phone.
Nice – where is part TWO?
BaseStation !
The customer relations of both Skype and Dualphone are APPALLING. All they are interested in is selling handsets.
After 3 weeks of being given the runaround between Skype & DualPhone over a fault that developed after 10 months, I have now given up and won’t be buying anything from the Skype shop or DualPhone again.
My advice would be to avoid buying that handset and stick to one of the larger more respectable manufacturers.
holy shi# the picture is incredible.
Regarding the Phillips unit not in stock at Amazon, there’s a unique free tool I’ve used to track a handset and some accessories which were also out of stock. It checks Amazon stock every few seconds and alerts you when something comes back in stock, much faster than email. It’s at http://www.azproductsnatcher.com, in case it helps anyone.
